Our lab is leading the Summer Experience in Genetics as part of the Science Engagement Facilitator Program in the University of Iowa.
Our aim is to:
- Expose elementary school children to Genetics concepts in order to facilitate the understanding of basic science through play.
- Train undergraduate and graduate students in science communication.
We do this through collaboration with the Iowa City Before and After School Program (BASP) summer camp. Training is done in collaboration with Lori Adams, Professor of Instruction and Director of the Iowa Sciences Academy.

Recruiting for Summer 2025 ends April 15 2025.
Requirements:
- Interest in public outreach and science education
- Willing to work with elementary school children
- University of Iowa Science major
- Completed at least two semesters at the University of Iowa with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Will still be a University of Iowa student in Fall 2025
